Food | Pavillon Yuasa š£
Last night, a friend invited me to dinner at the last minute. Since I usually donāt eat much in the evening, I thought it would be nice to catch up and chat with them, especially since there was another friend I hadnāt seen in a long time. š My friend mentioned it was Japanese cuisineālight and healthy. But in Bordeaux, Iāve never had good Japanese food. Most Japanese restaurants here are run by Chinese people, and many of them are from Wenzhou. Coincidentally, my friend is also from Wenzhou. She said that Wenzhou people mostly open sushi places, but this one is a Gastronomie restaurant. It was an eye-opener! I definitely plan to visit again to try their sake. š¶ The appetizers were two small dishes: soft-boiled eggs and marinated tuna. The mushroom soup was a delightful surpriseāI hadnāt had this kind of soup in France before, only in Beijing. It instantly brought me back to my time there. The soup, with its mushrooms and shellfish, was both clear and flavorful. š² The three types of soy sauce were exceptional: French white soy sauce, regular French soy sauce, and the classic dark Japanese soy sauce. The white soy sauce had a refreshing yuzu-like flavor, which was really delicious. You can even buy the white soy sauce at the restaurant! š„¢ The sashimi platter was beautifully presented. The soy sauce was clearly meant for this dish. Itās been a while since Iāve seen such an elegant arrangement. Although simple, it exuded authenticity. š£ The fried fish salad was another appetizer. The fish had a tempura-like texture, and the meat was firm. However, I felt the salad lowered the dishās overall quality (just my opinion), as it seemed too ordinary, like something youād find in a supermarket. š„ For the main courses, we had salmon and duck breast. They were hearty and filling. By this point, I was already full, but we still shared a bowl of rice among the three of us. š For dessert, we ordered three different onesāone for each of us. We had black sesame cream brĆ»lĆ©e, mochi, and a pudding with some kind of topping (I canāt remember what it was, but it was delicious). Each dessert was perfectly sweet without being too rich. The Alsatian dry white wine also paired beautifully with the meal. š· We joked that we might have booked the entire restaurant for the night, as we were the only ones there. š By the way, the restaurant offers two set menus: 65 euros and 95 euros per person. We chose the 65-euro option, which was more than enough. The 95-euro menu has even more food. š„© Oh, and the restaurant is owned by a winery, ChĆ¢teau Coutet, located in Saint-Ćmilion. I canāt speak for the wine, but the food was fantastic! š· #food #BordeauxTravel #Bordeaux #RestaurantRecommendation #Foodie #DeliciousFood #SatisfiedByFood #FoodHealsTheSoul
