Food Diary | A Century-Old Steakhouse in Rome
On an evening with no pre-planned itinerary, I casually opened Google Maps to pick a place for dinner—and was thrilled to find this restaurant right downstairs from my hotel! I did a quick search, and to my surprise, it’s actually a century-old establishment 🥩 Let’s head there right away! The restaurant’s atmosphere and setting are quintessentially "old Rome," oozing a rich sense of history. Every corner, from the wooden furnishings to the warm lighting, feels like a throwback to bygone eras, making you feel immersed in Rome’s long-standing culinary heritage as soon as you step in. 🍴 Signature Ribeye Steak (Medium Doneness) This steak is so fresh that it’s like the cow was just prepared—you can almost taste its freshness, as if the cattle were "chasing you" with their prime quality… The meat itself is incredibly tender; when you cut into it with a knife, it yields easily, and each bite is packed with a natural beefy flavor (though I have to admit, it’s not quite as aromatic as the T-bone steak I had in Florence!). What I loved most is its slightly lower fat content—exactly my personal preference 😆. Even with less fat, it’s remarkably juicy; every bite releases a burst of savory juices that coat your palate, keeping each mouthful moist and flavorful. The side dishes of crispy potato slices and sautéed spinach complement the steak perfectly. The potatoes are golden and tender inside, while the spinach retains its fresh crunch—they’re such a great match that I finished every last bite!! 🍴 Bucatini with Tomato and Bacon Another new pasta variety checked off my list! True to Italian culinary tradition, the bucatini is cooked al dente—slightly firm to the bite, which I find totally enjoyable. The firm texture of the pasta holds up well against the sauce, adding a nice chewiness to each bite. Since bucatini is a hollow, tube-shaped pasta, it tends to absorb more sauce. Maybe that’s why the dish was a bit on the salty side overall; a sip of wine (like a light Italian white or red) is perfect for cleansing the palate between bites and balancing out the saltiness. 🍴 Tiramisu I’m obsessed with this tiramisu! It’s absolutely delicious—layered perfectly with distinct textures of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone, yet all the flavors (coffee, cocoa, cream, and wine) blend harmoniously without overpowering one another. It melts smoothly in your mouth, with no cloying heaviness. The sweetness is just right—not too sugary—and the subtle wine flavor lingers gently on the tongue, making it a perfect, not-too-rich end to the meal. 📍 Girarrosto Fiorentino The address is quite close to Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps)—it’s definitely worth adding to your Rome food-hunting list, whether you’re exploring the Spanish Steps area or looking for a historic steakhouse experience. #RestaurantRecommendation #WesternCuisine #ItalianCuisine #ItalianFood #RomeFood #RomeRestaurants #RomeTravel #RomeFoodCheckIn #ItalianRestaurants #ItalyTravel
