Food Diary | DC | A Cheese-Filled Evening 🧀💥
Who in their right mind eats cheesecake with cheese? Oh wait... that would be me 😜 It's been ages since I last visited Barcelona Wine Bar, but my boyfriend kept craving their cheesecake. Since we were shopping nearby this weekend, we decided to stop by for some Basque cake! 🍰🤤 We came specifically for the cake and weren't hungry at all, so we just ordered some ham, cheese, and two drinks to go with it. 🍷🧀 For cheese, I picked a creamy cow's milk option and a semi-soft rosemary goat cheese—both mild and approachable! 🌿🐐 They actually have a great selection of goat cheeses to explore. The meats (Spanish ham and a garlic-pepper-nutmeg sausage) were decent but nothing special. 🧄🌭 Their charcuterie board isn't exactly gourmet—more budget-friendly options—but the portions are HUGE! When it arrived, we thought there was no way we'd finish it... yet somehow we did? 😅 #NoRegrets The Basque cake was also massive—a classic, no-frills version. While tasty, the flour ratio felt a bit high (slightly powdery texture), and the size made it tricky to bake evenly (a tad overdone). Still satisfying though! 🤩 Also tried sherry wine for the first time—weirdly reminded me of my dad's herbal tonic? 😂 Stronger flavor than regular wine—interesting but not something I could drink much of! 🍷✨ In the end, two not-hungry people demolished: ✓ Two large cheese portions ✓ A giant slice of cheesecake ✓ Plenty of ham Thank goodness we're not lactose intolerant! 🥛🙏 Walked 2 miles home to compensate... worth it! 🚶♂️💨 #DC #WeekendVibes #CheeseLover #WashingtonDC #DCFoodie #CakeTime #SpanishFood #MyLife #DMVFoodFinds #WeekendEats
