For This Spiral Staircase, I Would Go Back Again 🔄✨

♦️ The first time I visited, I stumbled upon this spiral staircase while wandering with friends, and years later, it still lingers in my memory. ♦️ This time, I specifically sought it out in Rome, and it turned out to be the renowned Palazzo Barberini. This place was once the vineyard of the Sforza family and is now an outstanding museum and art gallery. ♦️ If you’re not a fan of the bustling crowds at the Vatican Museums and haven’t reserved tickets for the Borghese Gallery, Palazzo Barberini is definitely a quieter and high-quality alternative, featuring masterpieces by the greats Carlo Maderno, Francesco Borromini, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. ♦️ Upon entering through the grand door, you'll find beautiful spiral staircases on either side of the corridor on the first floor, each crafted by the masters Borromini and Bernini. 🔸 The spiral staircase on the right is rounded, romantic, and gentle, with warm white marble spiraling gracefully upward. It’s much more beautiful than the famous double spiral staircase at the Vatican Museums! 🔸 On the left is the solemn and elegant square staircase, which is larger and more grandiose, though the rounded staircase is more romantic and delicate. 🔸 The long corridor connecting the two staircases is incredibly romantic when sunlight streams in. I absolutely love this kind of quiet, off-the-beaten-path spot! 🔸 If you have time, I recommend checking out the artworks in the gallery, where you can find notable pieces such as: Raphael's "La Fornarina" Giovanni's "True Love and Profane Love" Caravaggio's "Sacred Love" and "Narcissus" Antonio's sculpture "The Virgin Mary" Pietro Cortona's ceiling painting "The Victory of Divine Will" #Rome #InDepthRome #RomeArtMuseum #PalazzoBarberini
