Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House đĄâ¨
Recently visited the Pope-Leighey House near Alexandria, designed by the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Many whoâve taken the TOEFL might be familiar with his most famous work, Fallingwaterâbut compared to that masterpiece, this little house embraces a âsimple, natural style.â đż The home is a perfect example of Wrightâs âUsonian Houseâ concept: affordable, functional, and beautifully integrated with nature, designed for everyday families. Whatâs especially interesting is that the house was actually relocated in the 1960s due to the I-66 expansionâmoved piece by piece to its current site! đđ¨ I particularly loved the living room window designâits unique shape sparks the imagination, and the shadows it casts on the wall add a playful touch. âď¸đŞ Most of Frank Lloyd Wrightâs publicly accessible buildings are in the Midwestâitâs a shame I didnât have a car when I studied in Wisconsin and never got to visit any!
