Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House 🏡✨

Recently visited the Pope-Leighey House near Alexandria, designed by the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Many who’ve taken the TOEFL might be familiar with his most famous work, Fallingwater—but compared to that masterpiece, this little house embraces a “simple, natural style.” 🌿 The home is a perfect example of Wright’s “Usonian House” concept: affordable, functional, and beautifully integrated with nature, designed for everyday families. What’s especially interesting is that the house was actually relocated in the 1960s due to the I-66 expansion—moved piece by piece to its current site! 🚚💨 I particularly loved the living room window design—its unique shape sparks the imagination, and the shadows it casts on the wall add a playful touch. ☀️🪟 Most of Frank Lloyd Wright’s publicly accessible buildings are in the Midwest—it’s a shame I didn’t have a car when I studied in Wisconsin and never got to visit any!
