🌊 Free Travel Guide to Ōshima Yama and Jōgasaki Coast 🌊

🔴 Eastern Izu is usually the first stop when visiting Izu. The three attractions here are already very rich, with the main spots being Ōshima Yama and Jōgasaki Coast. If time is limited, you can plan a one-day trip to Eastern Izu. 🔴 Route: 1️⃣ Izu Plateau Station: Take the train to Izu Plateau Station, and purchase a one-day bus pass and tickets to the Cactus Zoo here. 2️⃣ Bus Stop: Use Google Maps to navigate to Ōshima Yama, take the bus for about 20 minutes, and you'll arrive at the place to buy the cable car tickets. 3️⃣ Ōshima Yama: An incredibly memorable matcha-colored mountain! The matcha color lasts from May until around November. Take the cable car up and walk around the summit, and you can also taste local mochi. The view is superb, and it's the TOP1 on my Tokyo itinerary. 4️⃣ Cactus Zoo: After descending from Ōshima Yama, the zoo is right across. The entrance fee is not cheap at 2500 yen, and the park is larger than expected. If you're not interested in zoos, you can skip it. The highlight is being able to touch and feed the capybaras, which even take hot springs in winter. This is a botanical garden and zoo, suitable for families with many activities for feeding small animals and a variety of American flora and fauna. We walked quickly and spent about an hour there. 5️⃣ Bus Stop: Use Google to search for Jōgasaki Coast and get off at the "Izukaiyo Park Bus Stop". Check the map, and you'll know you're in the right place if you see Izu Marine Park nearby. After getting off, you'll see a parking lot with signs pointing towards Jōgasaki Coast. 6️⃣ Jōgasaki Coast Entrance: Jōgasaki Coast is a coastal hiking route. We only walked a small section, from the entrance to the Kadoizumi Suspension Bridge. There are two routes indicated at the entrance: the coastal line and the forest line. In reality, the difference between the two routes is not significant as they merge where you can see the sea. 7️⃣ Kadoizumi Suspension Bridge: This hike takes about 30-60 minutes because the sea views are so beautiful that we often stopped to take photos. Walk all the way to the Kadoizumi Suspension Bridge, and you'll see the exit of this route. There's another parking lot up there where you can capture a panoramic view of the bridge and the ocean. 8️⃣ Jōgasaki Coast Station: After finishing, there are two ways to return. If your luggage is stored at Izu Plateau Station, you'll have to take the bus back the same way, which is quite a hassle. We stored our luggage at Izu East Station, so we didn't have to return to Izu Plateau Station. We walked 1.8 kilometers, about half an hour, through a villa district to Jōgasaki Coast Station. And with that, our trip to Eastern Izu was perfectly concluded! ‼️ Precautions: 🔴 Pay attention to bus timings: As long as you can catch the last bus from Ōshima Yama to Jōgasaki Coast, you don't have to worry about the subsequent bus timings because you can walk to the train station after finishing at Jōgasaki Coast. 🔴 Don't arrive at Jōgasaki Coast too late: The area is densely forested, and if you arrive in the evening, there are few people on the coast, and it's full of reefs, plus you have to cross the suspension bridge, which might be a bit scary, so it's better to go early than late. 🔴 We started early from Izu East Station and arrived at Izu Plateau Station at 9 am. Because we had to play at the zoo and catch the bus, we didn't even have lunch, and we got to Jōgasaki Coast Station around 3 pm. #IzuTravel #IzuFreeTravel #JapanTravelGuide #IzuTravelTips #IzuŌshimaYama #JōgasakiCoast #JapanFreeTravel #IzuDayTrip #TokyoFreeTravelGuide
