From Dayton, OH to Washington, DC ๐
After the summer semester ended, I made a last-minute decision to travel to the East Coast. Since I was a kid, Iโve always heard about Washington DC and New York City, but Iโd never set foot in either. So this summer, I planned to explore DC on August 13-14, and spend August 15-17 in NYC. Washington DC felt like stepping into Americaโs version of Rome ๐๏ธ. I stayed at the Morrison-Clark Historic Inn, just a few blocks from Capitol Hill. This inn is over 150 years old and has served as a luxury private residence, an officers' club, and even hosted First Ladies during social events ๐คโจ. On my first day, the weather was gloomy all day, with a dampness hanging in the air โ๏ธ๐ง๏ธ. But by evening, the clouds broke apart, revealing a streak of stunning red across the sky ๐โค๏ธ. The next day, August 14, was beautifully clear. Looking west from Capitol Hill, the Washington Monument almost seemed to melt into the wine-red sunset ๐. After finishing my trip to New York (more on that later ๐), I really have to sayโDCโs metro is so much cleaner, and the neighborhoods feel safer too. On the early morning of August 15, I took the Amtrak from Union Station to New York City ๐โฆ The train was faster and cleaner than I expectedโI originally thought itโd be some old-school iron wagon ๐ . #USA #WashingtonDC #Amtrak #CapitolHill #DCTravel #WashingtonMonument
