🌊 Galveston: Super Beautiful Seaside & Dolphin Watching 🐬
Took a trip from Dallas to Galveston over spring break—about a 4-hour drive one way. 1️⃣ About the Ferry ⛴️: The ferry is free for both cars and pedestrians. Search for "Ferry Terminal." If there are fewer cars, not all routes may be operating, so expect lines regardless. We waited 30 minutes from Galveston to the opposite island. On the return, the line was so long that we made a U-turn and skipped the ferry—a great decision❗️ (At that time, taking the ferry would have taken 1h50m without waiting, while driving straight to Houston took just over 2 hours.) If you have luggage, consider taking the ferry one way and driving back along the coastal road—it’s a scenic route with pretty islands 🏝️ and coastline. The island has only one main road. Even if maps suggest the ferry, you can simply drive straight to Houston. 2️⃣ About the Dolphin Tour: Totally worth it in my opinion! Check in 30 minutes early to snag a good spot. The dolphins are super fast—hard to capture on camera 😂. Although some say you can see dolphins on the free ferry, we didn’t spot any there. 3️⃣ About the Duck Tour: Sadly, we woke up too late and missed it 🥲. Really wanted to try the amphibious vehicle that drives from land into water! If you want to do both tours, start your day early. 4️⃣ About Food: We chose Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. located right by the amusement park: 📍 2501 Seawall Blvd, Galveston, TX 77550 If it’s not crowded, ask for a second-floor seat with an ocean view 🌊. The food was tasty—highly recommend the Old Fashioned New England Clam Chowder 🥣. Some special menu drinks come in souvenir cups you can take home 🥤. #DallasDayTrips #HoustonDayTrips #Galveston #ThingsToDoInTexas ✨
