Georgia | St. Simons Island – Day 1

On a whim, we decided to get away for a seaside escape yesterday. Having visited Savannah and Charleston many times before, we opted for somewhere quieter and less explored. Originally, Jekyll Island was the plan, but with a last-minute Airbnb search, we couldn’t find anything in our price range there—so we chose the even more low-key St. Simons Island instead. 🏝️✨ We didn’t get an early start—spent the morning packing the car and didn’t hit the road until 10:30 AM. After a quick lunch stop and a long drive, we arrived on the island around 5 PM… just in time for sunset! 🌅 The blue hour by the shore was absolutely magical—soft light, gentle waves, and such a peaceful vibe. We spotted what looked like a casino cruise ship in the distance (still figuring out how to book that for next time! 🚢). The small beach town still had its Christmas lights twinkling along the streets, which felt so cozy and festive. 🎄 For dinner, we chose the friendly local spot Iguanas Seafood Restaurant. They even had fake snow blowing at the entrance—such a fun touch! ❄️ A highlight was their shrimp appetizer plate with four different flavors of shrimp—each one was delicious! 🍤😋 Excited to explore Jekyll Island tomorrow!
