Golden Time BBQ - Houston's NEW Spot for Self-Serve Skewers! ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿจ Golden Time BBQ (Those Years Skewers) ๐Ÿ“ 9102 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77036 ๐Ÿ“ Located in Di Hao Plaza, formerly the space of "MaLuBianBian" โฐ Hours: Daily, 5:00 PM - 2:00 AM Iโ€™d been seeing this place all over my friendsโ€™ social media feeds, but the long lines kept me away โ€” until now! ๐ŸŽ‰ Finally, a friend made a reservation, and we got to try it out. We arrived at 6 PM, and the place was already packed! By the time we left around 8 PM, there was still a crowd waiting outside. ๐Ÿšถโ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ™‚๏ธ Pro tip: Come early or make a reservation! Walking in, I was impressed โ€” the interior is definitely one of the most stylish in Chinatown! ๐Ÿฎ It really reminded me of trendy automated skewer spots back in China. They use electric grills, so thereโ€™s hardly any smoke smell. ๐Ÿ™Œ I didnโ€™t even need to wash my hair after dinner โ€” major win! We ordered via QR code after sitting down. The menu is extensive and totally on par with what youโ€™d find in China! ๐Ÿ“ฒ Youโ€™ll find: Various meat skewers (lamb, beef, chicken) Offal & specialties โ€“ chicken gizzards, chicken feet, pork trotters Seafood โ€“ squid, shrimp, and more Grilled veggies โ€“ mushrooms, peppers, cauliflower Snacks & sides โ€“ clams with vermicelli, spicy malatang-style skewers, cold dishes, and plenty of carbs like noodles and rice When the food arrived, the staff helped us set up the grill at first. After that, itโ€™s DIY! โš™๏ธ Note: Make sure the gears are placed correctly so the skewers rotate smoothly. Unlike in China, thereโ€™s no guide for cooking times โ€” you gotta keep an eye on your skewers! ๐Ÿ‘€ Generally, when the meat starts dripping juices, itโ€™s ready. Overcook, and it gets tough; undercook, andโ€ฆ well, letโ€™s not go there. ๐Ÿ˜… I felt some of the meats were a bit dry โ€” maybe we grilled them too long? The seasoning leans sweet, which may suit Jiang-Zhe tastes. But each table has cumin and chili powder, so you can balance the flavors. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ One thing missing: that juicy, sizzling fat you get from Xinjiang-style lamb skewers. The meat selections here are on the lean side. My personal hack: Grilled meat + roasted cauliflower + dab of bean paste, wrapped in a Zibo-style pancake โ€” so good! ๐Ÿ˜‹ One last note: Dress light โ€” it gets seriously toasty near the grill! ๐Ÿฅต #HoustonEats #GoldenTimeBBQ #SkewerTime #ChineseBBQ #HoustonFoodie #AsianGrill #SelfGrillHouston #FoodieReview #HoustonNightEats #ChinatownHouston
