Greensboro, NC | Saigon Cuisine Restaurant
A friend is obsessed with this Vietnamese hot pot spot—she’s made a special trip to eat here several times and kept telling me I had to try it. This time, we finally found time to go, driving over an hour just for this meal. After tasting it, I instantly understood her obsession—it was totally worth the trip, and this delicious, fresh flavor completely satisfied my cravings! 😋😋😋 Must-Order Star: Grilled Quail (Crispy Skin, Tender & Juicy Meat) The aroma of the grilled quail hooked me as soon as it hit the table! 🦆 The outer skin was roasted golden and crispy—with a gentle twist of chopsticks, you could hear a “crunch,” and every bite was packed with smoky, charred flavor. Surprisingly, the meat inside was not at all dry; instead, it was firm yet juicy, with every strand of meat infused with the taste of spices. Pair it with the side of lime juice and salt-pepper mix: squeeze a few drops of tangy lime and dip in a little salt-pepper, which instantly cuts through any greasiness. I kept popping bites in my mouth, even sucking the meat off the bones, and couldn’t help licking my fingers after—so addictive!😋😋😋 Soul Highlight: Vietnamese Hot Pot (Heaven for Light-Flavor Lovers, Incredibly Fresh) This Vietnamese hot pot is definitely a “gentle standout”! 🍲 The broth is like a mellow version of Thai tom yum soup—without the spicy kick of traditional tom yum, it’s instead filled with a refreshing balance of sweet and sour. The sourness whets your appetite, and the sweetness is soft; take a sip of the broth, and you’ll first taste a light spice, then the sweet-sour aftertaste slowly spreads in your mouth—no greasiness at all. It gets even better when you add fresh seafood! 🦞 Cook shrimp, mussels, and squid until they change color—take a bite, and the sweet freshness of the seafood blends with the sweet-sour broth, so delicious it makes your eyes close in delight. Toss water spinach and bean sprouts into the pot for a few seconds: the crisp veggies soak up the broth, refreshing and non-greasy. Finally, add a handful of rice noodles—they absorb the rich broth, and every bite is packed with a complex mix of fresh, sour, and sweet flavors. It’s light yet satisfying; I ate two bowls without feeling full, and my stomach felt so comfortable.😋😋😋 Warning to Avoid: Chef’s Recommendation (Don’t Order! Sweet-Salty Grease Bomb) The only letdown was ordering the “Chef’s Recommendation”—it was totally not what we expected. ❌ This dish was a bit like “salted braised shrimp”—the shrimp meat was somewhat bouncy, but the sauce was cloyingly sweet with a heavy oily taste. The mix of sweet and salty was weird, and I felt greasy after just two bites. It was nowhere near as amazing as the grilled quail or hot pot—definitely skip this one and save room for the more worthwhile signatures!😋😋😋 Overall, this restaurant is truly worth a special trip. The grilled quail and Vietnamese hot pot are absolute musts—I’ll definitely be coming back next time! #food #NCFoodRecommendations #RTPNCFood #RestaurantRecommendations
