Backstory: I work in Raliegh and my lady work here in Greensboro so we rarely have the time for each other’s company during business hours; the traditional 9am-5pm but more like 4am-10pm for us. My lady and I, as Greensboro natives, have always wanted to try and find the right time to try Saigon Cuisine Restaurant as we’ve heard great things about this place but never really had a chance to due to work schedule UNTIL today (Friday July 12, 2024). I had the day off and my lady has time for an hour lunch break this afternoon at 1:30pm. Lunch date is on for this afternoon! Exciting!
Intro: As we entered the ‘cuisine’ restaurant we were met by an older gentleman who had a somewhat reserved attitude, who we found out later was the owner, and he directed us to our seating booth area. Awesome great! As we reached our booth, I usually just sit down without looking but thanks to God I looked because the seat was drizzled with bits and pieces of noodles. STRIKE ONE! We asked that the seat be wiped off or be seated else where. We just picked another seating area by the window to enjoy each other’s company and watch the traffic scenery.
Ordering: We sat down at our table of four with two menu presented to us by the owner with NO request to start us off with any drinks. STRIKE TWO! Side note: the place was not at all busy. So there are no excuses for lack of Service attentiveness to your customers. After approximately ten minute has passed we were finally approached by the owner to take our orders. We placed our drink order, our entrée and a to-go order for our children’s.
Waiting: After placing our order the owner disappeared for a few minutes and arrived back to present us with our drinks, straws and napkins. Beautifully executed! There was waitress that brought us our condiments for our entrees that placed the condiments on my phone as we were discussing a beach trip with our big family before school started up again. That waitress was very odd and rude! STRIKE THREE !
Eating: Approximately five minute afterwards we were presented with our entrée. That was quick! As my Lady and I ate our lunch, we both agreed that the food was amazingly tasty! In the middle of us enjoying our meal the waitress arrived with our to-go order. Instead of waiting for us to finish our meal to hand us the to-go order OR get our attention to give us the to-go order, the rude waitress shoved the to-go order on to the table and pushed My Lady’s entree in the middle of her eating. STRIKE FOUR! We brushed it off, finished our meal and headed to the front to pay. The front of house lady that took our payment was courteous, smiled, and struck some positive vibe conversation. Though we couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
Conclusion: The food was great! The service was terrible! Will we return?; Absolutely Not! Take it as you will but being that this is a small restaurant with growing potentials just lost potential loyal customers. We will stick to our original go-to spots and we suggest the same to our readers; If you want the same type of food with better service, more variety and more bang for your buck I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Van Loi II or...
Read moreThis restaurant was highly recommended by a Vietnamese friend. The food presentation was exquisite and perfect. The papaya salad was as delicious as it was beautiful. I've eaten many papaya salads in many states and none come close to theirs. The wings were delicious. My son loved his pho. The fresh spring rolls could have been fresher and colder but they were delicious as well. The fried spring rolls were delicious. The star of the show was the fried flounder. It was almost too beautifully garnished to even eat. The only reason for four stars is that I unwrapped a dirty fork, which was quickly replaced and an oversight that I believe to be an isolated incident. The level of service, sweet kind demeanor of the staff and how well they worked together was just amazing and more than made up for it. The quality and quantity of food was surpring and very rare for the price. Even after they became busy with Valentine's traffic they still checked on us and made sure we had anything we needed quickly. Also we have enough leftovers that will make ANOTHER delicious dinner tonight. Win WIN. We are looking forward to going back. This is our new...
Read moreMy husband and two kids stopped by for a quick dinner. We had 3 waitress moving around and serving. Understandable. But it was so horrible because we order our food and half way through we were wondering about one of the dish we order. We asked one of the waitress and they went to check on it and informed us that the kitchen forgot about making that dish. Ok cool. So my son and daughter and I were out of water. We waited for at least 20 mins and still no one came to check on us. We had to stop one of the waitress and asked for a refill. He looked annoyed and mumbled something and walked away and came back. We still thank him for pouring our drinks. We got done and went to pay and the other waitress came to the boss and informed that we didn't leave a tip. The boss said that we didn't leave no tip and demanded a tip for her waitresses. I'm thinking to myself that I pay for my services. If my waitress isn't refilling my drinks and looks annoyed and mumbling under their breathe I would not tip at all. But I still ended up giving 5.00 tip anyways. I told my husband that if he wants to come back and eat there he can. I'm not going back due to...
