Greenville | German Gastropub Near the BMW Factory

Did you know Spartanburg is the main production hub for BMW’s X models? So it only makes sense that a German restaurant near the factory would be authentic, right? I’d never really had proper German food before, so when my boyfriend’s colleagues suggested eating here, I was totally in! 📍 Hans & Franz Biergarten 3124 S Highway 14, Greenville, SC 29615 💰 Avg: $30+ per person 🍻 It’s called a Biergarten for a reason—you have to try the German beer! I asked the server for a recommendation and went with the Weihenstephan Dark—one of the sweetest drafts they have. I usually don’t like beer, but this one was smooth and not bitter at all. Perfect even for non-beer drinkers! 🥨 As a huge pretzel lover, I had to order the monster-sized pretzel—great for sharing with 3–4 people! Honestly, one of the best pretzels I’ve had in the U.S. 🥨✨ served warm with delicious mustard dip. 🍖 You can’t do German without schnitzel or pork knuckle, right? Their roasted pork knuckle is under $30 and big enough for two. Not really my thing, but my boyfriend and his colleagues said it was legit 👌 Each entrée comes with two sides—highly recommend the sauerkraut and cucumber salad. Tart, fresh, and cuts through the richness. 🌭 Not into knuckle? Try the sausage sampler! It comes with Weisswurst, Bratwurst, and a pork cutlet. The sausages were super juicy—literally burst when you bite into them 🌭💦. The pork cutlet was also tender and flavorful. (Also comes with two sides!) 🍔 We also got their signature Cheese Bomb Beef Burger 🧀💣 As a cheese lover, I was in heaven—smothered in cheesy sauce, juicy patty, and served with crispy fries. Seriously good. The vibe here is awesome too—cozy, rustic, and full of character. Definitely a place I’d come back to! Only downside: service can be slow since they’re short-staffed. Try to avoid peak hours if you’re in a hurry. If you go on a weekday, you can also visit the BMW Zentrum Museum nearby! (Closed on weekends 😢) #GreenvilleSC #GermanFood #GermanBeer #Biergarten #BMWCountry #SouthCarolinaEats #FoodReview #WeekendEats
