Had the Sweetest Dessert of My Life at a Peruvian Restaurant in DC!

💕In DC, I couldn’t get a reservation at Causa, so I went upstairs to Amazonia instead. Both offer a similar menu, but Causa is a tasting menu while Amazonia allows for individual dish orders, which is quite a good deal in a way. 💕This time, I ordered four courses and one dessert. 💕💕【PATACONES】 These are small pancakes made from plantains, topped with mushrooms and ham bits. They felt a bit dry and were rather bland as an appetizer. 💕💕【SCALLOPS A LA PARMESANA】 The scallops were large and tender, covered with a thick layer of Parmesan cheese, giving them a rich, creamy flavor. 💕💕【PULPO AL JOSPER】 The best dish by far! The first bite was stunning. The creamy mashed potatoes were sprinkled with crispy quinoa, and the octopus inside was super tender and bouncy! The slight spiciness from the aji panca left a lingering flavor in my mouth. 💕💕【WHOLE GRILLED FISH】 There are various cooking methods to choose from; we went with grilled this time. It tasted a bit like domestic grilled fish with a mix of South American spices. The fish was well-seasoned, but the skin was a bit salty, which I recommend pairing with the plantain pancake. 💕💕【CHAZUTA】 Highly praised! My first time trying macambo-flavored dessert in the U.S. (is it common in South America?) The mint and passion fruit gelato were super refreshing and perfectly balanced the richness of the macambo nuts, leaving only the nutty aroma. 💕Overall, the dining experience was excellent. The dishes weren’t expensive, and the restaurant had a great sense of design. Friends who love South American/Peruvian cuisine should definitely give it a try! #FoodExploration #Delicious #DMV
