Hadestown in Hollywood, Los Angeles! 🎭✨

My first time watching a show at the Pantages Theatre, and the experience was absolutely fantastic! The theater is located right in the heart of Hollywood, next to the world’s largest record store—Amoeba Records! 🎵 Hadestown completely exceeded my expectations. One great soundtrack after another made up for what some might call a "slightly simple" plot (though honestly, the writer played it safe by sticking closely to the original myth—but hey, it’s a good story to begin with!). 🎶 The entire cast was phenomenal—except maybe the male lead, but everyone else’s vocals were explosive! I teared up during "Wait for Me" in the second half. The female lead and Hades were both incredibly charismatic, and the live musicians were so engaging—they pulled me right into the story from the first note. 🎻 What struck me most was how the story isn’t just about young love—it’s really about trust. “This is not a trap. This is a trial.” Eurydice clearly told Orpheus, “I’m coming too. Wait for me,” yet Orpheus looked back out of insecurity and doubt—ultimately breaking their bond. Hades designed this “test” because, in his own cyclical relationship with Persephone (half a year together, half apart), jealousy made him doubt she’d ever return. He wanted to see if this “perfect couple” could survive a crisis of trust. Yet Orpheus, who saw through Hades’ own fears, couldn’t stay faithful in his own relationship. Maybe it’s better that it ended as a real tragedy—though perhaps the writer just prefers happy endings, hinting from the start: “this is not a sad song.” 🎵 Have you seen Hadestown?
