Hard to miss this tall totem pol

馃拵Plaza del Quinto Centenario: Due to its elevation and strategic location, it's hard to miss this attraction whether driving or walking through the Castillo San Felipe del Morro area. 馃拵Located next to the Museum of the Americas, it was the next spot I visited after the museum. 馃攨It was built to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Spanish arrival in Puerto Rico. The plaza features a fountain where children can splash around. Free to visit! 馃敟It was educational to see this part of Old San Juan. We know so little about our fellow Americans living on the island. 猸怲he colors of the buildings are inspiring and uplifting. The fountain is beautiful and tells an interesting story. 鉁匴e passed through here on the way between the two fortresses. It's a nice area to sit in the shade and relax. 馃尨There鈥檚 also a shaved ice vendor (piraguas) in the plaza with dozens of flavors鈥攑erfect for cooling off in the heat. #PuertoRico #Fountain #MuseumOfTheAmericas
