Hiking|Cascade Pass & Sahale Arm Trail 🍁⛰️
This weekend, I finally checked off the legendary Cascade Pass ! 🎉 While I personally feel it’s not the *most* cost-effective spot for fall foliage, the massive meadows + snow-dusted peaks + alpine lakes made it absolutely breathtaking. With the sunshine acting like a natural filter, every photo looked like a painting! 🖼️✨ As a destination trail , it’s incredibly rewarding. This time, I wisely didn’t attempt the full hike —I turned back at Doubtful Lake , logging ~11 miles round trip (including the walk from parking) with 2,700+ ft elevation gain . 🥾 The first half was all forest with zero views , flat but full of endless switchbacks . The second half? Pure magic! 🌿🌄 The meadows were stunning, with new postcard-worthy scenery at every turn , but the climb was brutal . Honestly, by the time I was questioning my life choices, the name "Doubtful Lake" made total sense—I was *very* doubtful about when I’d actually see the lake! 😅 When I finally reached it, the view was nice, but since the sun was already behind the mountains, it felt a bit underwhelming . Now I get why people wake up at dawn to hike this trail—lighting is everything! ☀️ P.S. - Zero cell service the entire time. 📵 - The last 13 miles to the trailhead are unpaved , but the road is in decent shape—just a few minor potholes. A 2WD car can handle it if you take it slow. 🚗💨 - Parking was a NIGHTMARE. 😱 By noon on Sunday , both sides of the road were packed with cars . At one point, two cars had to play "who backs up first" chicken" because there was no space to pass . When I finally squeezed into a spot, I suddenly understood why everyone was parked so crazily along the road. 🚙💥 #Seattle #SeattleArea #WeekendAdventures #HikingVibes #TrailLife #FallHiking #PNWAdventures #OutdoorExplorer #NaturePhotography #PeakBagging
