Hokkaido Uni in Charlotte
🍉🍉Who would’ve thought we could get a taste of Hokkaido in Charlotte, the so-called “food desert” of our neck of the woods! 🍜🍝It’s right at the Arboretum plaza—total heaven for uni fanatics. The quality might not be top-tier, but at $9 a pop, you really can’t ask for more!! 🍟 Just being able to sink my teeth into it is enough to make my day. 🍣 🍱🍱(Heads up: the owner said uni restocks every Friday, so it’s freshest on Fridays and Saturdays, while supplies last.) The inari sushi there is also to die for—highly recommend the avocado salmon flavor, it’s my go-to every single time. 💞💞 Today I also tried the seafood udon; slurping down that warm, subtly sweet broth chased away the first hint of autumn chill, and suddenly I was transported back to the winter I spent in Japan right before high school graduation.💘 ✨✨it a cozy little local spot, filled with chatter and clinking glasses, time just drifting by slow and easy. Uni Ramen🍜🍜 I ordered this signature dish on recommendation, and it’s such a creative take—it’s a dry ramen, generously topped with uni. 🎁 💕The owner said the uni is shipped straight from California, and they specifically source a variety that tastes just like Hokkaido uni—super fresh and briny sweet.🍦 🍒The salmon roe adds a delightful burst of flavor with every bite, and fresh shiso leaves bring an extra layer of aroma. 🌲🌲 🌹The sauce sits at the bottom of the bowl, looking light and subtle, but once you mix it all up, the flavor becomes incredibly rich and savory. This is by far my favorite dish—you absolutely have to try it!🌷🌷 I looked up at autumn leaves falling to the ground, and it hit me—those carefree days of youth are long gone.😻😻 (Every visit brings a little new surprise. Fingers crossed this gem of a spot sticks around for good, hehe.)🍐🎼 📍Sushiya Japan 8200 Providence Rd Unit 500 Charlotte, NC 28226 #Uni #CharlotteEats #CLTFood #NorthCarolinaFood
