Holiday Citywalk | Skadarlija Street – A Must-Visit in Serbia

I came across a travel tip saying: "If you want to see what Belgrade looked like in the 19th century, don’t miss Skadarlija Street." This made me eager to visit this historic alley as soon as I arrived in Belgrade, curious about its mysterious charm 🌈🌈. Skadarlija Street is a quaint, Serbian-style cobblestone lane (see Figure 2⃣). Lined with rustic red-roofed houses and three-story buildings, their slightly weathered facades exude a unique historical atmosphere. 👍 Highlights: By day, sunlight spills over the cobblestones, while passersby stroll leisurely. Friends gather at café entrances, chatting and dining, soaking in the peaceful vibe (see Figure 3⃣). At night, the street comes alive with the warmth and energy unique to Belgraders (see Figure 4⃣). With live music from street bands, you can’t help but dance along 👯👯 (see Figure 5⃣). If someone greets you, don’t hesitate—join them, sing, and dance to experience the infectious spirit of this Balkan city (see Figure 6⃣). 📍 Address: Ulica Skadarska, Belgrade, near Republic Square 🚗 Transport: Take bus No. 16, 58, or 95 to Skadarska station. 🍱 Food Recommendations: Tri Šešir (Three Hats 🎩🎩🎩) – A must-visit restaurant (see Figure 7⃣): Rich History: Opened in 1867, it has over 150 years of tradition. Elegant Ambiance: Features a spacious outdoor seating area and a two-story interior decorated in classic Serbian style. The restaurant is named after the three black, white, and red hats displayed at the entrance (see Figure 8⃣). Beyond the charming setting, the food is outstanding 🍱 (see Figure 9⃣): 1️⃣ Mixed Grill Platter 🍖 (990 RSD): A must-order, featuring grilled ribs, bacon, chicken, pork chops, sausages, and fries. The meats are on the saltier side, and the bacon is a bit tough, but the portion is huge—two people couldn’t finish it. 2️⃣ Fish Soup 🍲 (290 RSD): A large bowl with celery and tomato bits—not fishy at all, slightly spicy, tangy, and incredibly flavorful. Best enjoyed with bread dipped into the soup. 3️⃣ Grilled Mushrooms (610 RSD): Despite being grilled, they remain juicy. The aroma hits you as soon as they’re served—tender and savory, a must-try! 📌 Practical Tips: 1️⃣ Use Moovit for public transport navigation. 2️⃣ Popular spots like Two Deer (Dva Jelena) and Tri Šešir get crowded, so book in advance via phone 📞 or email ✉️. 3️⃣ At Tri Šešir, enjoy live traditional music 🎻🎷 (tipping the musicians is appreciated) while dining—it’s like stepping back in time. 4️⃣ Smoking is allowed indoors. 5️⃣ A 20% service charge is added to the bill.
