First of all, I want to say that this is a new one for me. I have traveled to different countries and have eaten at many restaurants, and never have I been treated like this before, hence this review.
The restaurant seemed nice, with good reviews and live music as well as a good atmosphere. We walked in and were greeted by a waiter who accommodated us in the portico area of the restaurant. We took a second to order and when we did, the waiter made a weird disapproval face to my choice, kind of like saying this was not good. Then he asked if we wanted bread or salad, which we politely said neither but upon his insistence we said salad. I thought that this was all weird but did not make an issue about it due to the fact that we had just landed to the country and were hungry. We also ordered a juice, a coffee and two bottles of water.
When the food arrived, we were given two salads, which we thought were complimentary due to the insistence of the waiter, as well as our two entrées. After finishing eating, I asked him to please box my food to which he rudely said, no I am too busy. WHAT?! My wife thought this was a joke but I did not as I saw him put dishes from our table on top of my still almost full of food plate ,before taking it away. Then he came back with the check and when my wife asked for the food to go he replied that he was too busy for that but made sure to remind us that service was not included twice while pointing at the 20% suggested tip.
Here is the catch, not only was he rude but now I realized we were entirely overcharged for everything we consumed which is highly illegal. My order was 1300 Serbian Dinars and my wife's about 1300, that plus the waters and juice did NOT add up to the 7400 Serbian Dinars we were charged. Despite writing down no tip, we were charged a tip which is why it adds to this amount. This is completely unacceptable and I wont be coming back to this place ever again, I made sure to report it to my credit card company as fraud as well as writing this review so...
Read moreI would never go back here based on the service received today, May 12th.
The food was alright but the waiter was very slow and very very rude.
He directly made fun of me for ordering 1. a coke, 2. a side of mashed potatoes. The plate we ordered came with french fries and he originally didn't want to bring the mashed potatoes (we weren't asking to get the mashed potatoes instead of the french fries, we were ordering it as a side and we had Serbian native speakers in the group) and was very rude about it. When other people in our group would ask anything, he would mumble under his breath and treat everyone really badly.
The service was so bad that some people from our group had food before he even took the order from other ones. He also yelled at us for ordering bread (when again, other people in our group had both bread and food by this point).
It literally took us 1 hour...
Read moreI visited a lot of restaurants in Serbia, and I ate in many places, but this restaurant "Zavičaj" left the worst impression on me. I have never paid a more expensive bill for lunch, and I have never eaten worse food than this... and besides all that, I have never had worse service than in this restaurant... and at the end the waiter asks me - do you want to leave a tip ?! First of all, the food was totally unsalted, the meat I ate was dry and tough, and the potatoes were totally tasteless, as if they had been frozen and then reheated. The cabbage salad was too sour, so I only ate a few bites and left totally disappointed and angry... The food was terrible, the service was terrible (the waiter was rude and on top of that he asked me to leave him a tip). I recommend that you avoid this restaurant in a...
