Honest Review of LA's Hottest Cafe Spot ☕🔥

Finally made it back to LA and immediately visited this cafe that's been on my list since it opened! I’d always heard how popular it was—pastries often sell out within 2–3 hours after opening—so I woke up early just to check it out! This time, I tried three drinks and eight different pastries. 🚩 Quick Summary: Nice atmosphere—very typical Korean-style cafe vibes. Flavors are creative and textures are interesting, but I probably won’t be returning. 🍪 Miso Cookie A unique savory-sweet combo, with saltiness taking the lead. Interesting, but not my favorite. 🍪 Black Sesame Cookie Chocolate + black sesame felt like an East-meets-West idea, but the chocolate overpowered the sesame. The sprinkle of salt on top felt unnecessary and confusing. 🧁 Hojicha Mochi Muffin Cute and chewy (thanks to rice flour!), but barely any hojicha flavor came through. 🍫 Dark Chocolate Mochi Brownie Pretty standard—not bad, but the mochi texture wasn’t as good as in other items. 🍰 Black Sesame Mochi Cake Bar Rich black sesame flavor with a nice, chewy bite—one of the better items! 🍞 Ssuk Marble Pound Cake The most surprising one for me! First time trying mugwort in a pastry—buttery and fragrant, though the butter overshadowed the mugwort. 🥯 Milk Cream Bun My favorite! Soft, chewy dough with light, milky cream inside—tasted like a coffee cream top. So good! 🍋 Perilla Lime Tart A unique idea (perilla leaf + lime), but execution fell flat. The filling was thin, and the sugared perilla leaf on top felt gimmicky. ☕ Modu Latte Even as a non-coffee expert, I could tell the coffee flavor was weak. Pretty average. 🟫 Hojicha Koji Oatmilk Latte w Cream Top My top drink pick! Toasty hojicha flavor stood out well. 🍵 Matcha Koji Oatmilk Latte w Cream Top Used Kettl matcha, but the flavor was still faint. Just okay. 📍 Modu Cafe Have you been to Modu Cafe?
