Horror Lovers Can Celebrate Halloween Early With This One-Night Horror Film Fest & Costume Party

Halloween in August? Sign us up! Spooky season is starting early for movie lovers in Los Angeles with a one-night horror celebration . Silverlake Scream Show is hosting Summer Shriek on Friday, August 15, at El Cid in Silverlake. The annual Halloween showcase is ready to kick off the season with an original short film fest from a few L.A. indie filmmakers. The event is part costume party, part horror short screening, and part local vendor fair . “We’re throwing a party for horror lovers, filmmakers, and anyone who just misses Halloween as much as we do,” said Charlie Schwan, President of Silverlake Scream Show, in a statement. “It will be a great night out, and every ticket goes toward helping local, indie filmmakers bring their scary stories to life.” Video Hero, Crystal Visions, and Harum Scarum are set to be vendors, and attendees have the chance to win giveaways from Horror Vibes Coffee, Killer Fitness, Mother Knows, and more. Ticket sale proceeds go directly to the organization’s 2025 artist grant program.
