Houston | A Serendipitous Find in Rice Village - D'Amico's
Rice Village is so close to home that I feel like I’ve almost explored every corner (though I’m sure there’s still more to discover). This time, as I was leaving the parking lot, I stumbled upon an Italian restaurant, D'Amico's Italian Market Cafe, and decided to give it a try on a whim. 🍝 Antipasto All'Italiana: I ordered this appetizer, which had a good variety of ingredients, including fried meatballs, fried zucchini, cheese, and ham. Overall, the flavors were quite mild, but it seemed like a good choice to pair with drinks. By the way, their cocktails 🥃 were pretty good. 🍝 Linguini Diavolo: This is a classic red sauce pasta that you really can't go wrong with. The squid was chewy and satisfying, and there was a generous amount of it. The sauce had a nice sweet and sour balance. 🍝 Pappardelle Pesto: Maybe it’s just my personal taste, but I couldn't really appreciate the pesto sauce. It tasted quite salty to me, and I’m not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be. Overall, it wasn't very enjoyable. 🍨 Gelato: It was delicious but quite sweet. I’d recommend the pistachio flavor. I also tried a blueberry cheese flavor, but it didn’t really taste like blueberries. Overall, the experience was pretty average, but the ambiance was nice, and it was quite busy on the weekend. It’s a decent option if you’re unsure what to eat, but I wouldn't specifically go out of my way for it. They also have some interesting European snacks and Italian products. I heard they serve coffee during the day as well.
