Houston Foodie Review: Dough Zone

This relatively new restaurant is actually just a 10-minute walk from my place, but online reviews had initially deterred me from trying it. I've always been skeptical about Asian restaurants along Westheimer - they often feel more tailored to Western palates. But today, pressed for time, we decided to give it a shot (just a 3-minute drive away). First Impressions: ✨ The interior is surprisingly upscale - bright, spacious, and modern. Almost too nice for casual dumpling fare! The Food: 🥤 Best Item: Purple sweet potato milk tea (absolute winner!) 🦀 Crab Xiao Long Bao: Decent seafood flavor in the filling with good soup content, though the wrapper was thicker than ideal 🍜 Scallion Oil Noodles: Chewy texture but lacked fragrant fried scallion aroma. The sweetish flavor was acceptable to my Shanghainese palate 🥞 Jian Bing (Chinese crepe): Just okay 🥟 Pan-fried Dumplings: Disappointing - undercooked bottom with doughy, non-elastic wrappers Final Thoughts: Given the convenience, we might return to try other items (though we'll skip the shengjianbao - for those, we'll stick to 99 Ranch area). 📍 Dough Zone [Address would go here] #HoustonEats #DoughZone #HoustonFoodie #DumplingLover #AsianFoodHTX
