Houston Japanese Cuisine | Katami🥢
I heard that this is the top Japanese restaurant in Houston, so I decided to try it out for my birthday 😋. I originally wanted to book the Omakase, but it was fully booked. I managed to get a reservation at the main dining area at 9 p.m. I thought there wouldn't be many people at 9 p.m., but the place was packed and we had to wait for a bit 🥲. 🦀 The taro tartar was delicious and highly recommended! The grilled crab legs were also great. The texture was very firm, and what you taste is mostly the flavor of the food itself—it's really fragrant! 🐟 The smoked black cod had a strong sense of ceremony. It preserved the fish's natural freshness, and the juices were abundant and tender. The slight smoky flavor was just perfect. 🍣 The sashimi was just okay in my opinion. Maybe it was because I ordered the wrong thing—I accidentally ordered the regular one instead of the chef's special platter 😂. It was fresh, but the quality seemed average. If you just want to taste the flavors, I'd suggest ordering the chirashi. The sashimi in it is the same as in the platter, and the portion is quite generous. 🦪 The oysters were the smallest I've ever had 😂. They seemed to have started working before they were fully grown. I didn't really taste much. 🍰 The Japanese cheesecake was delicious! It melted in my mouth. Since it was my birthday, they gave it to me for free. Overall, it was pretty good. Maybe it's just hard to find great seafood in Texas. The average cost per person was around $200 💰. #ImmersiveJapaneseCuisine #HoustonFood #HoustonEats #HoustonJapaneseFood
