I Found Authentic Japanese Flavors in Los Angeles! 🍣🇯🇵
A friend mentioned that Japan’s treated wastewater won’t reach the U.S. West Coast until August… so here’s a fresh & clean Little Tokyo LA food guide while we can still enjoy it! 😂 Little Tokyo is a spacious Japanese village right in downtown LA — my go‑to spot for meals during my first LA visit. 🍔 I’m not really into American burger culture, and while Chinese food is ideal for traveling with family, LA doesn’t have that many Chinese options 😭 🚗 Sushigen is the most authentic sushi spot I’ve tried here — second place goes to Hama Sushi. Loved it so much I went twice in three days! 💰 Uni is $20 but totally worth it — this isn’t tray‑packaged uni, and if you know, you know 😉 (Important to mention three times for the real connoisseurs.) 🇯🇵 How authentic? The place is filled with Japanese regulars, orders are still handwritten traditionally, and sushi is served in pairs. Six pieces per person is plenty! 🍣🍣 Must‑try: Yellowtail, Toro, Salmon Egg. Price varies — some say ~$30 per person, but my experience was more like $60‑80 to eat well and happily. 🍚 Their unagi don (eel rice) and ochazuke (tea‑soaked rice) are also amazing — what originally drew me in! One of the few meals in the Western U.S. I’m willing to eat until completely stuffed 😽😽😽 #Tempura #RestaurantRecommendation #HiddenGem #JapaneseCuisine #GlobalFoodSquad
