I Love Exploring Food in San Gabriel! 🍴

First stop on our LA trip – San Gabriel eats! 🍗 Lunch at Heng Heng Chicken Rice – Hainanese chicken rice. Not particularly amazing, chicken was just okay, but the sauce was unique and paired well with dark meat. Still, I prefer Vegas 88 Noodle Papa’s Hainanese chicken – more authentic Cantonese style with ginger sauce and tender chicken. 🍢 Dinner at a BBQ skewer spot – 📍 933 W Duarte Rd, Monrovia, CA 91016 Skewers are super affordable! We tried almost everything – best were the grilled chicken wings, which tasted like real Chinese street BBQ. Maybe because Vegas Chinese food is… questionable, this felt like a delicious taste of home. 🍍 Craved Hong Kong-style tea restaurant snacks, so went to Alice‘s Kitchen 📍 580 E Garvey Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91755 Fish balls, mixed sauce rice rolls, pineapple buns were decent. But the Cantonese-style beef chow fun was just okay, and the Yangzhou fried rice… skip it. My husband got a yuanyang (coffee-tea mix) – he said it had no flavor 😂 I saved my stomach for better drinks elsewhere. 🐸 We both wanted frog, so picked a Sichuan spot – 📍 1265 E Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91801 We can only handle mild Cantonese-level spice… but we ordered ginger frog and stir-fried double crunch – both extremely spicy! This meal was… emotional. Tears and runny nose included 😭 Portions are huge – almost every table had leftovers to go. We went around noon and still waited ~15 minutes. Small place, so be prepared to queue. ⚔️ Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Experience @ Bearology Temple City 📍 5805 Rosemead Blvd, Temple City, CA 91780 The kids wanted to go – requires reservation or long wait. $10 deposit per person (usable toward order). The food… let’s just say it’s all about the vibe 😅 Kids loved it, though! #LAEats #SanGabrielFood #LAFoodFinds #LATravel #LAChineseFood #LAWeekend
