🌲 If you're in California, you CAN’T miss Lake Tahoe in the summer 😍

There’s nothing more healing than the jelly-like waters surrounded by majestic mountains. 🏔️🍃 Here’s the route I figured out – perfect for a weekend getaway: 🗓️ Friday Night: Drive 2 hours from the Bay Area to Sacramento 🚗🌆, spend the night there. 🌅 Saturday: Head early to Emerald Bay 💚 Park at “Emerald Bay State Park Lookout” 🅿️ (get there early – spots fill fast!) Enjoy the stunning overlook, then take an easy ~1-mile hike down to the lake 🥾 Swim, rent a kayak, or try paddle boarding! 🚣♀️ ➡️ Then drive to South Lake Tahoe – a lively little city with hotels and casinos 🎰 (I skipped the casinos and kept driving along the east shore). 💎 East Shore = The Best Part! Must-visits: Secret Cove 🤫 Park at “Secret Cove Parking” (just roadside spots) Cross the highway and take the trail south to reach this clothing-optional beach 👙 Water is unbelievably clear 💧 Climb the rocks on the right for an epic sunset view 🌅 Sand Harbor 🏝️ Where those famous “jelly lake” photos are taken! 📸 Rent a clear kayak from Clearly Tahoe – but GO EARLY! 🚣♂️ Afternoon winds can cancel trips further out (like to Bonsai Rock) 💨 Parking is limited – reserve ahead! No spot? No problem 😉 Park near Tunnel Creek Cafe in Incline Village instead 🚲 Rent a bike and ride the Tahoe East Shore Trail to Sand Harbor – gorgeous views + you’ll pass hidden coves like Emerald Cove 💚 perfect for a swim! 🌃 Saturday Night: Drove to Reno – not much to see, but found a tasty Taiwanese restaurant 🍚😋 🚙 Sunday: Drove back to the Bay Area along the north shore.
