๐ฒ If you're in California, you CANโT miss Lake Tahoe in the summer ๐
Thereโs nothing more healing than the jelly-like waters surrounded by majestic mountains. ๐๏ธ๐ Hereโs the route I figured out โ perfect for a weekend getaway: ๐๏ธ Friday Night: Drive 2 hours from the Bay Area to Sacramento ๐๐, spend the night there. ๐ Saturday: Head early to Emerald Bay ๐ Park at โEmerald Bay State Park Lookoutโ ๐ ฟ๏ธ (get there early โ spots fill fast!) Enjoy the stunning overlook, then take an easy ~1-mile hike down to the lake ๐ฅพ Swim, rent a kayak, or try paddle boarding! ๐ฃโ๏ธ โก๏ธ Then drive to South Lake Tahoe โ a lively little city with hotels and casinos ๐ฐ (I skipped the casinos and kept driving along the east shore). ๐ East Shore = The Best Part! Must-visits: Secret Cove ๐คซ Park at โSecret Cove Parkingโ (just roadside spots) Cross the highway and take the trail south to reach this clothing-optional beach ๐ Water is unbelievably clear ๐ง Climb the rocks on the right for an epic sunset view ๐ Sand Harbor ๐๏ธ Where those famous โjelly lakeโ photos are taken! ๐ธ Rent a clear kayak from Clearly Tahoe โ but GO EARLY! ๐ฃโ๏ธ Afternoon winds can cancel trips further out (like to Bonsai Rock) ๐จ Parking is limited โ reserve ahead! No spot? No problem ๐ Park near Tunnel Creek Cafe in Incline Village instead ๐ฒ Rent a bike and ride the Tahoe East Shore Trail to Sand Harbor โ gorgeous views + youโll pass hidden coves like Emerald Cove ๐ perfect for a swim! ๐ Saturday Night: Drove to Reno โ not much to see, but found a tasty Taiwanese restaurant ๐๐ ๐ Sunday: Drove back to the Bay Area along the north shore. Stopped at a few beaches, but honestly โ the east shore has the clearest water! ๐ #LakeTahoe #JellyLake #CaliforniaTravel #WeekendVibes #NatureHeals ๐๏ธ
