🚤 Type-A Traveler’s Guide | How to Book
Clear kayaks are totally trending right now – practically a must-do in Tahoe! 🚣♀️ But here’s the deal: this experience rewards planners. This guide covers how to book, what to expect, and how to get those dreamy photos! Why Clear Kayaks? It’s all about the photos! 📸 If you’re going kayaking in Tahoe, why not glide in a boat that’s literally made for Instagram? The famous Bonsai Rock on Tahoe’s east shore can only be reached by kayak – no trail access. Clear kayak + emerald water = unreal shots. Need I say more? 💚 Booking Your Kayak Three main companies offer clear kayak tours on the east shore: 1️⃣ Clearly Tahoe ✅ Pros: Most popular, cheapest, sleek website ❌ Cons: Books out far in advance, limited time slots, larger groups 2️⃣ Tahoe Paddle Sports ✅ Pros: Mid-range pricing ❌ Cons: Also hard to book, bigger groups 3️⃣ Tahoe Multisport ✅ Pros: Less known → easier to book, more time options, smaller groups (only 6 people when we went!) ❌ Cons: Most expensive of the three All tours start in Incline Village 🚐 → shuttle to Sand Harbor → paddle to Bonsai Rock and back. Make sure you book an EAST SHORE or BONSAI ROCK tour! Timing & Duration ⏳ Tour lasts ~3 hours Arrive 15 mins early in Incline Village to check in and get a dry bag After kayaking, you can hang at Sand Harbor before shuttling back 🕗 GO IN THE MORNING! Early = calmer water, less wind, better light. Afternoon tours often get canceled due to waves 🌊, and clouds roll in by 11 AM ☁️ Photo Tips The guide will climb onto Bonsai Rock and take photos for the group 🚣♀️ Paddle to the RIGHT of the guide – slightly farther out → better angle (shore toward water = better light 💡) You can get out and stand on Bonsai Rock for photos Wear light-colored clothes 👕 – looks better against the water! What to Bring 1️⃣ Sandals – you’ll get wet feet getting in/out 🩴 2️⃣ Spare pants – paddle drip will likely soak you 🩳 3️⃣ SUNSCREEN – no shade on the water 😎🧴 4️⃣ Band-Aid for your thumb – paddling can rub 🩹 #BayAreaWeekends #Tahoe #ClearKayak #TravelGuide #PhotoTips #LakeTahoe #HiddenGems 🛶
