ilili DC – A Flavorful Journey into Lebanese Cuisine! 🇱🇧✨
Tried Lebanese food for the first time—and the restaurant’s decor is absolutely gorgeous! 🏺🌿 🍽️ DUCK SHAWARMA - 3.5/5 ♥ ♥ ♥ A warm appetizer with duck and pita. The duck was delicious—roasted to perfection with a tangy-sweet touch from pomegranate seeds. Served with a unique dipping sauce that tasted like passionfruit—not greasy at all, and it enhanced the duck’s flavor beautifully! A bit like Peking duck skin with sugar—highly recommend! 🦆🔥 🍽️ BONE MARROW - 2.5/5 ♥ ♥ Roasted bone marrow with pomegranate and beef tartare. Not gamey, but the marrow’s flavor was subtle, and the portion was small. Came with greens that were too bitter to eat as a salad… just okay. 🍽️ LAMB STUFFED GRAPE LEAVES - 2/5 ♥ ♥ The name was a bit misleading 😿—expected fragrant lamb and rice, but got grape leaves stuffed with rice in a strong lamb broth. Salty with a strong leaf taste, paired with a sour dipping sauce. The balance was fine, but the lamb flavor was faint. Only a little minced lamb in the broth—not very satisfying. Not recommended unless you’re into leaf-heavy dishes. Go for a meatier main instead! 🍽️ CHOCOLATE ARAK SORBET - 3.5/5 ♥ ♥ ♥ Chocolate ice cream with a twist! Made with traditional Arak liquor—rich, unique, and almost like red bean paste toward the end. So good! 🍫❤️ 📍 Address: 100 District Square SW, Washington, DC 20024 💸 Value: 3/5 ♥ ♥ ♥ No need to go out of your way, but if you’re nearby, it’s worth a try—especially the meat-focused dishes! Great atmosphere for photos too. 📸 Have you been to ilili? What’s your favorite Lebanese dish?
