Irvine Food|Korean Volcano Braised Beef Ribs + Dumpling Rice Cake Soup

As the weather cools down in LA lately, I’ve been craving something warm! So my friend and I visited Tang N Tang in Irvine—a regular spot for us. Just from the name, you can tell they specialize in all kinds of Korean bone soups 🍲. Besides soups, they also serve braised beef ribs, pork spine stew, sundae (blood sausage) hotpot, bossam, seafood pancake, and more! 👇 What We Ordered 👇 🌟 Dumpling Rice Cake Soup (Mandu Tteokguk) The first time I tried this was when my Korean roommate made it—for Koreans, it’s like eating longevity noodles 🍜, adding a year to your life with each bowl! Their dumplings are huge, filled with veggies, meat, and glass noodles (likely handmade!). With chewy rice cakes, seaweed, and egg swirls in a rich bone broth—so comforting on a chilly day! ❄️🥣 🌟 Hot Pot Bulgogi I often eat Korean grilled beef, but having it as a soup was a delicious surprise! The sweet soy-based broth was perfectly balanced, and the glass noodles soaked up all the flavor. Mild and slightly sweet—kids would love this too! 🥩🍜 🌟 Galbi Jjim (Braised Beef Short Ribs) Who could resist a volcano-sized pot of braised beef ribs? 😱 The portion was seriously impressive—each rib was fall-off-the-bone tender. We chose the mild option (sweet, savory, slightly spicy). Using scissors to cut the meat made it easy to enjoy! The pot also came with rice cakes, pumpkin, mushrooms, potatoes, and more. Personally, I think the flavor and value here beat Sunnongdan by a mile! 🥔🎃 ✅ Verdict: This is truly a hidden gem in Irvine, popular among Korean locals. ✅ Their soup variety is extensive, with most dishes priced around $10+. ✅ Stews and hotpots are generous enough for 3–4 people. ✅ The banchan (side dishes) are solid too—especially the fish cake and spicy kimchi! 🥬🐟 🍴 Tang N Tang 📍 3953 Irvine Blvd, Irvine, CA 92602 #LifeInNorthAmerica #KoreanBraisedShortRibs #LAEats #IrvineFood #IrvineKoreanFood
