Fantastic comforting Korean meal!
At this point I'm trying to think what I didn't like about the meal but I think the actual thought is what items did I like more than others because I really didn't dislike anything about my experience at Tang N Tang.
Items ordered:
Spicy Beef Bone Stew BOSSAM COMBO (w/ cold spicy noodles) Galbi Jim
Taste:
I expected to like the Galbi Jim the most and that's exactly what happened. It's just so good! I've had this dish at other places so I already knew what the overall flavor would be but I was still pleasantly surprised. The bones were huge, with tasty and tender meat. I really enjoyed the different style of rice cakes that come with the dish & how they didn't get soggy. You'll want to eat some plain white rice with this dish. So much flavor that you don't want to stop eating. Great balance of sweetness, spice, & savoriness.
I have not had this style of beef bone soup in quite a while and while I'll admit I'm not a huge soup fan this was some really good broth. It just tastes so homemade with such a developed beef flavor and appropriate amount of spice.
The spicy cold noodles I feel like unless you've had them they might throw you off, because it's not often you have cold noodles. But if you like chew give it a try. I enjoyed the chew of the noodles like always do with this dish and I like that the flavor didn't taste watered down like I've had at some other places. Major points for the "bear ice cube". Nice aesthetic. Be sure to add some hot mustard. Always makes it better.
Bossom is not a dish I get often since I'm not a huge pork fan but I still enjoyed it here. Like all the other dishes it just came out look really fresh & it's fun to make a little bite with the cabbage & some banchan. Makes for a good bite.
The overall vibe of the staff gave me the positive Korean vibes since they were so friendly and informative about the food. There were lot's of older, large Korean groups eating here, so that's a good sign, right!?
Parking is very easy since it's basically in an Hmart plaza so there is a sizeable lot.
If you're looking for some food not lacking in flavor check them...
Read moreOver the weekend, I visited this restaurant, and it was packed with Koreans, which made me think this place must be authentic! According to my Korean friends, eating tteokguk (rice cake soup) is like how we eat longevity noodles — having a bowl adds another year to your life!
✨ Braised Beef Ribs The braised beef ribs here are different from what I’ve had at other Korean restaurants. Instead of the cheesy style, it’s more like the Gangnam-style soy-braised ribs. The flavor leans sweet, and the ribs are so tender that they fall off the bone and melt in your mouth. The seasoning is absolutely spot-on, and personally, I find it much tastier than the spicy cheesy ribs. The portion is huge — three people could easily have two meals out of it! Plus, this version is totally non-spicy, so even kids can enjoy it to the fullest.
✨ Pork Backbone Potato Soup This has always been one of my favorite Korean dishes, especially in winter. Sipping the warm broth is so comforting! The soup comes in a hot stone pot, steaming and full of flavor, with around four big chunks of pork backbone. The potatoes are stewed until perfectly soft. Pairing the soup with rice is pure happiness!
✨ Beef Bulgogi Hot Pot This one was ordered especially for the kids. The broth is on the sweeter side, making it perfect to go with rice. In winter, there’s nothing better than enjoying warm, hearty soups at a Korean restaurant!
There are so many other dishes on the menu that look amazing too. I’ll definitely come back to try...
Read moreAfter moving to Irvine, I was glad that I found this place at first. To a point where I introduced this place to my friends and relatives.
I did not want to make a post immaturely so I waited and let go a few times. Today was just unbearable. I ordered my go-to menu for myself and other items for my family. First off, I ordered Spicy Pork Soup, two of them. One of them was just pork belly only which I paid extra for. I paid extra and the amount of pork belly that was in the soup was the same as the amount I got for the regular, no extra fee Spicy Pork Soup.
I paid $6 extra to order Soon-Dae combo only to come with around 8 small pieces. For that price, it is expensive but I don't mind it. However, it is unacceptable when your food gives you this smell where you can't chew more than twice and spit them out. I never had this problem and was very surprised by this.
If you order Pork Soup or Sul-lung tang, they give you noodles. This is my 3rd time where they gave us what seems like noodle, but it is not. We boiled it, let it sit in the soup for long time, etc. We tried enough to eat the noodle, but it was like as if they gave us imitation noodle figure or something. It literally broke into pieces as if you're...
