Italy | Navona Square and Its Fountains
📍 Navona Square 🤔 So many people at Navona Square, should we still check it out? ✔️ Of course, no matter how crowded, it's definitely worth squeezing in! 🌆 These days, when we talk about a city, no matter how many skyscrapers, wide roads, or dazzling lights it has, it doesn't fully represent its development level. We also need to consider what's underground, like the sewer system and drinking water network. And Rome is no exception❗ ⛲️ Navona Square is actually one of the places in Rome that best showcases the city's water network. Why? Because it has three famous fountains! Want to know the details? 😝 Join a guided tour when you visit Rome! ✅ Key Attractions ⛲️ Fountains (from north to south): 🔶 Fountain of Neptune (Fontana del Nettuno) This is the "youngest" of the three fountains, built in the 19th century. Unlike the fountain at the southern end of the square, this one features Neptune battling a giant octopus! 🔶 Fountain of the Four Rivers (Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi) This is the most famous fountain in Navona Square, designed by Bernini. Completed in 1651, it features a towering Egyptian-style obelisk. The four muscular statues below represent the four continents known to the world at that time. 🔶 Fountain of the Moor (Fontana del Moro) Originally built in the 16th century, but a century later, Bernini added the central statue of a Moor wrestling with a dolphin, which was later sculpted by Mari. Surrounding it are four half-man, half-fish figures, representing Tritons, the sons of Poseidon. 🎈 Navona Square used to be an arena in ancient Rome. Now, it’s the heart of local Roman life. ☕️ Around the square, you'll find cafés, restaurants, and shops! The square is filled with tourists, street artists, vendors, and fearless flocks of pigeons🕊. 👀 Heads up! There's also a lot of pickpockets here!🤣 #Italy #Rome #Coffee #Europe #TravelGuide #NavonaSquare #FountainoftheFourRivers
