🌟 Japan Okayama Travel: Naoshima Day Trip
A day trip to Naoshima was meticulously planned, turning this 'P' person into a 'J' person. For details, see the schedule below, precise down to each hour and minute. Why? 1. Two pavilions require advance ticket purchase and time reservation. 2. The island's shuttle buses are limited and not very frequent. 3. I didn't want to return to Okayama too late; the ferry and JR train also take a certain amount of time. Naoshima is a place of artistic and fresh vibes. Anyone who loves art, philosophy, and architectural aesthetics will surely love it here. Hiroshi Sugimoto's Time Corridor requires a reservation, starting with the first session at 11 AM. I arrived on the island strictly according to the timetable at 9:42 AM, then took a 100 JPY bus directly to Tsutsuji Villa. Afterward, I strolled by the seaside, enjoyed the breeze, and found the shaded areas quite cool. Then, I walked to the yellow pumpkin for a check-in photo. Honestly, there weren't many people, and the queue for the yellow pumpkin was only a few minutes before I could take a photo. Around ten o'clock, I meandered to Hiroshi Sugimoto's Time Corridor, arriving before 11 AM, and we were allowed in early. First, we visited the tea room, which was empty and as beautiful as a painting—tranquil and full of Zen. Seeing the vast sky and sea, one could get immersed in the beautiful scenery. Each person also gets a traditional Japanese sweet and tea. If you like, you can sit longer and enjoy the rare quiet and comfortable moment in life. Inside Hiroshi Sugimoto's Time Corridor, there are many paintings to admire, but once you leave, you can't turn back. Finally, there's a gift shop where I bought a fridge magnet and a yellow pumpkin badge. After that, I returned to Tsutsuji Villa's Naoshima cafeteria for lunch. After eating, I continued to rest and enjoy the sea breeze. Then, I took the 1 PM bus to the Chichu Art Museum, with a reservation for 13:15 PM. I arrived just in time for this batch to enter. No photos are allowed inside, but I highly recommend Monet's real water lily painting and various exhibitions built with light and shadow. You'll find the energy and philosophical thoughts these exhibitions bring are unique and not experienced elsewhere. After leaving the Chichu Art Museum, I took a free shuttle bus directly to Lee Ufan Museum. Unexpectedly, the entrance I got off at was the Valley Gallery. I went straight to the Lee Ufan Museum, which didn't require a reservation; you can buy tickets directly. The paintings in the museum are composed of dots, lines, and planes, the most basic compositions, completing a neat and symmetrical beauty. My favorite was the stone exhibition, where the projection under the stone seemed to be everything it had experienced and witnessed, mountain springs, rainwater, people coming and going, and in the end, all things return to one. No matter what it has experienced, it remains the same quiet stone, unchanged. After coming out, I found that it was earlier than expected, so I took the bus directly to Tsutsuji Villa and caught an earlier bus to Miyanoura Port. I checked in with the red pumpkin and took a ferry back to Uno Port around four fifty. If you like to see more exhibitions, it's recommended to stay overnight on Naoshima to experience more exhibitions and art. #SetouchiTrip #Naoshima #YayoiKusamaPumpkin #HiroshiSugimotoTimeCorridor #ChichuArtMuseum #LeeUfanMuseum
