Japanese Food Recommendations in Torrance, South LA 🍱🥘🍤

I only knew about Little Tokyo in LA downtown before, but I didn’t expect there to be such a tasty and fun Japanese neighborhood in Torrance down south! 🌟 Matsui Their most famous dish is probably the tempura shrimp bowl 🍤, but we accidentally ordered something else 🤦‍♀️ • Katsu Don + Cold Soba (combo) • Sansai Don + Hot Udon (combo) The soba and udon were both delicious ❤️—cold soba was especially refreshing! The pork cutlet rice bowl was a bit salty but okay; the vegetable rice bowl was… not my thing. • Takoyaki (I order it at every Japanese spot) • Barley Iced Tea (free and so good 😋) 🌟 Chinchikurin • Seafood Okonomiyaki Sit at the counter to watch it being made—so much cabbage inside! 🌟 Torihei Yakitori Robata Dining Went for oden but it’s only available at night; lunch focuses on yakitori. From top left: curry pork skewer, cucumber salad, grilled beef tongue, shishito peppers, okra, meatballs, green tea jelly + almond tofu 💖 Highly recommend the curry pork skewer and almond tofu! The curry glaze on the skewer was surprisingly great—we ordered another round 😉 Meatballs are a house special—worth trying. The almond tofu was a huge, delicious bowl 😍 🌟 Mo-Mo-Paradise This sukiyaki AYCE spot had limited meat and veggie options—didn’t live up to expectations (or the chain’s hype lol). Unexpected favorite: the self-serve drinks 🤣 – oolong tea, peach jasmine, jasmine milk tea, coffee jelly, and crystal boba! 🌟 85°C Bakery Café The purple sweet potato bread was tasty; egg tarts were a bit sweet. 🌟 Daiso Japan Like a fancier dollar store—you can find almost anything here! Great for browsing. Most items are $1.75 (like the mini dolphin Lego in pic 6 🐬). ✅ All the above are in the same plaza. 🌟 Yamari The most bitter matcha ice cream I’ve ever had (definitely high purity…) – ate it squinting 😳 As a matcha lover, no regrets, but Maiko is still my #1! PS: This one’s in another bigger plaza nearby with a Japanese supermarket, bookstore, food court, and lots of shops! #LosAngeles #LAFood #TorranceFood #JapaneseFood 🏮🍙
