Kandy Food 2
I can’t recommend this restaurant enough—I’d give it a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars! One thing I’ve noticed about Sri Lankan meals is that the portions are huge. At first, we even asked if a single dish would be enough for one person… but when the food arrived, we were shocked by how much there was. It turns out, you could easily share a plate between two people and still leave full!😊 Their signature dish—yellow rice and curry wrapped in a banana leaf—was absolutely delicious 😋. The rice, fragrant with coconut and subtle spices, paired perfectly with the array of curries: creamy coconut chicken, spicy beef stir-fry, and a tangy tomato chutney that added a zesty kick. Every bite felt like a celebration of bold flavors, balanced just right so the heat didn’t overpower the other tastes. The other rice dishes with stir-fried chicken and beef were equally impressive. The meats were tender, cooked with a mix of local herbs and chili that gave them a depth of flavor I hadn’t expected. It’s comfort food with a tropical twist—hearty, satisfying, and full of character.😍 Admittedly, the Western dishes here were just average. The pasta lacked that special touch, and the grilled fish, while fresh, didn’t stand out like the local specialties. But honestly, why order Western when the Sri Lankan classics are this good?😊 Kandyan Dance Performance: A cultural gem rooted in ancient rituals. Held near the Temple of the Tooth Relic, shows start around 17:00. Arrive 15 minutes early for a good seat. Dancers in elaborate costumes perform for an hour, showcasing Kandy’s cultural charm 🕺. (Note: Some find the routines repetitive.) This place was a wonderful surprise. From the warm, family-run vibe of the restaurant to the vibrant, home-cooked flavors of the food, it felt like getting a peek into authentic Sri Lankan hospitality. If you’re in Kandy and craving real, unpretentious local cuisine, this spot is a must-try.😍 #Kandylove#Kandy#SriLankaTravel #SriLanka #SriLankanFood #CapturingTheGoodLife
