Kicked Off the New Year with Culinary Creativity! 🚀🍽️
Edward Lee's creativity is truly mind-blowing! Each dish combines unexpected flavors in ways you'd never imagine. While not every bite was 100% perfection, I still applaud his bold approach—because great food should always keep evolving! 👨🍳💫 🏠 Restaurant: SHIA 📍 Address: 1252 4th St NE, Washington, DC 20002 ———————————— The menu doesn’t list dish names—only ingredients, leaving plenty of room for imagination! 🌟 ✨ Started with rice wine and Pumpkin Mandu (dumplings)—light and refreshing! ✨ The real showstopper was an unnamed fish roe dumpling 🥟, served with crab meat, pine nut tofu sauce, and apple—unexpected and unforgettable! ✨ Braised pork belly rice was a favorite! The pork was flavorful but not greasy—though adding both abalone AND oysters felt a bit excessive 🐖🍚. ✨ Mains: Short rib and rockfish were solid, though relatively classic. The jujube (red date) sauce paired with the fish was a unique touch! ✨ Ended with jujube ice cream—perfect for those who love subtle, not-too-sweet desserts. So good, I want to try making it at home! 🍦❤️ Sadly, I only booked the 4-course menu (just $90!), so I missed out on the signature bibimbap and didn’t get to meet Chef Lee 😔… but it was still an amazing experience! Hoping to try the full menu next time! And hey—wishing everyone an extra dose of good luck in the new year! 🍀💪 Have you tried SHIA or other creative restaurants in the DMV?
