Kid-Friendly Park Collection: No.1

I’ve decided to document all the outdoor parks I’ve visited with Niu (my kid)—and for the first episode, I just have to start with my absolute favorite one! 🌳 Tucked away on the west side of Portland, Oregon, this gem goes by the name of Hidden Creek Park West—a spot that never fails to light up my kid’s face every time we go. 🥰 The park’s showstopper? Undoubtedly “Oro, the Forest Giant” 🦍—a massive structure crafted from wood and metal, shaped like a towering gorilla or a mythical forest giant. It’s not just for looking at; kids can climb all over it, zoom down its slides, and explore both inside and outside its “body” for hours on end. Step inside, and you’ll find a maze of climbing nets and ladders that feel like a secret adventure; walk around the outside, and there’s even a small rock-climbing wall built into its “legs” — perfect for little ones eager to test their balance and strength! 🧗♂️ But Oro isn’t the only reason to love this park—it’s packed with diverse facilities that cater to every kid’s mood. On sunny days, the water play area becomes a mini paradise, with sprinklers and shallow pools where kids can splash around to beat the heat 💦; nearby, the sandpit is always full of little builders digging, stacking, and creating tiny sandcastles 🧱. There are winding walking trails for casual strolls (great for when kids need a quick break from running), cozy swings that soar high, and even hanging chairs where parents can sit back while keeping an eye on the fun 🪑. For creative little minds, the painting wall is a hit—kids can grab chalk and doodle to their hearts’ content, leaving their colorful marks for other visitors to see 🎨. And if you need a moment to relax, there’s a small hammock area where you can lie back and listen to the sound of kids laughing and birds chirping 🪑. What makes it even better for families? The entire play area is enclosed by fences, so you don’t have to worry about little ones wandering off—total peace of mind for parents! 🛡️ The facilities are also super inclusive, meaning kids of all ages (from toddlers taking their first steps to older kids looking for more excitement) can find something to enjoy. 📍 225 NE 53rd Ave, Hillsboro, OR If you’re in the Portland area and looking for a park that combines adventure, fun, and safety, this one’s a must-visit—my kid still talks about our days here weeks later! 🎉 #PortlandParks #FamilyOutings #OregonWithKids
