Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (2)🌿

Ema Hall 🌿 The Ema Hall faces the main approach within the courtyard, leading straight to the "Sanmon" gate, which hangs the plaque inscribed with "Tenmangu." 🌟🌸 This gate symbolizes the sun, moon, and stars. Tenmangu Shrine is entirely made of wood: wooden doors, wooden halls, wooden corridors, wooden railings, wooden fences, and wooden shingle roofs. The dark color of the wooden architecture makes the gold-plated, copper-plated, and painted decorations even more dazzling, without overshadowing the main structures. 🌿 🌟🌸 Every month on the 25th, during the "Tenjin Festival," a flea market is held where vendors sell food, antiques, and miscellaneous goods. 🍃🌺 In February and March every year, the shrine is bustling with visitors. The 20,000 square meters of the plum garden, with 50 varieties and about 1,500 plum trees in full bloom, are known as "Mr. Tenjin's Plums." The plum blossom is also a symbol of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. 🌺 🌟🌸 Compared to six years ago, there are still many people coming to pray, but the market feels a bit quieter. If you take your time and wander around, you might still find something you like. 🍃🌺 Compared to other shrines, Kitano Tenmangu Shrine has less solemnity and more of a lively, everyday charm. 🌿 #Kyoto 🌺
