Kiyomi in DC 🍣 | Is This "Affordable" Omakase Worth Trying? 🤔

Located in a plaza that feels a bit like a food court, Kiyomi is set among several other eateries—with just a small counter as its own space. Not the most immersive omakase experience, to be honest. 🏬🍥 Priced at around $110 per person (pre-tax), you could arguably spend just a little more for a much better omakase elsewhere. 💸😬 The flavors were pretty standard—nothing particularly memorable. Highlights were the unagi nigiri and a seared fish nigiri—both quite tasty! 🐟🔥 But three nigiri were real letdowns: the salmon roe and two types of silver-skinned fish. Extremely fishy—and not in a good way! 🚫🐠 The toro was surprisingly tough and chewy, with a weird sinewy texture—not the buttery melt-in-your-mouth experience you’d expect. The real surprise? The matcha tofu dessert! Smooth, silky, and delicious—definitely the star of the meal! 🍵💚 Overall, probably not worth a special trip. Fairly popular though—reservations needed 3–4 days in advance. 📅⏳ Kiyomi 1850 K St NW Washington, DC 20006 United States #JapaneseCuisine #Omakase #DMV #WashingtonDC #DMVFood #DMVJapanese #GoodValue #Nigiri #SushiReview #FoodCritic #DCEats #DCFoodie #OmakaseLovers #MatchaDessert #NotWorthTheHype #EatLocal #DiningDC #SushiBar #HonestReview #FoodieGram
