Kumiko - Chicago

This time I visited the underground whiskey bar, and the ambiance is really nice! 🥃✨ The menu is different from upstairs—their overall style is sweet cocktail-focused, and even the stronger drinks aren't too overwhelming. My personal benchmark is actually Milk Room, but you get what you pay for, and Kumiko is already excellent! 💫❤️ 1️⃣ Agony of the Leaf - I ordered this for the oolong tea flavor, but the tea aroma was quite light. Surprisingly, it had a sweet preserved plum taste. The sweet potato shochu they use is really interesting—it has some unique flavors. For example, the bartender showed us one with a lychee note! 🍠🌿 2️⃣ Ringo Sho-Hi - Also very sweet, and it had nothing to do with apples. 🍎🤔 Still, it was a fun and enjoyable drink! 3️⃣ "Gyokuro" Shochu - Green tea shochu on the rocks. Maybe adding hot water would bring out more of the tea aroma? The tea flavor here wasn’t fragrant but slightly bitter—really tasty! By this point, I was sober enough to take the college entrance exam 😂📚 This was the most "drink-like" beverage of the night! 🍵🧊 Have you been to Kumiko? What’s your favorite drink here?
