Kyojin Sushi โ Summer Restaurant Week 2025 ๐ฃ๐
โ๏ธ Overall Rating: ๐๐๐๐ As a huge sashimi lover, I might be a little biased! ๐ My dining partner was most impressed by the third course, "The Winner," while the other dishes were slightly above average. ๐ $65 for 4 courses โ a really fair price for the quality! ๐ฆฉ The restaurant has a cool bar-like vibe, and the wall of origami cranes is super unique โ wonder if guests are allowed to fold and add their own? ๐ ๐น Drink: Sunset Cocktail Sweet with a hint of truffle aroma โ very calming! It also contains egg white, though you canโt really taste it. ๐ Course 1: Dumplings or Clams ๐ฅ Dumplings โ filled with A5 Wagyu, pork, and lobster! Served with two sauces: wasabi and garlic-yuzu. Personally, I still prefer vinegar though! ๐ ๐ Clams โ choice of black pepper garlic or spicy yuzu broth. The yuzu flavor was strong and refreshing โ not spicy at all! Way better than heavy garlic butter styles โ not greasy at all! ๐ Course 2: Bluefin Tuna Sashimi ๐ฃ Topped with black truffle mustard (truffle flavor was subtle) and yuzu oil/vinegar โ so the yuzu stood out! My partner said it was delicious! ๐ Course 3: The Winner โ A stunning mix! ๐ฏ ๐ Grilled eel, foie gras, bluefin tuna, caviar over sushi rice. This award-winning dish was the highlight! My partner said heโd come back just for this โ the layers of flavor unfold like putting on clothes: first the sashimi, then truffle-wrapped fish, followed by the rich fat of foie gras and eel. Perfect portion โ any more would be too heavy. ๐ Course 4: Poke Bowl or Chirashi Bowl ๐ Poke Bowl โ mixed with assorted sashimi, salmon roe, and scallops. The balsamic pearls were a unique touch! Tasty but not very filling. ๐ฃ๐ Chirashi Bowl I preferred this for its pure, unseasoned sashimi flavor, plus a whole shrimp! Simple but satisfying. ๐ Dessert: Nest Ice Cream Three flavors: raspberry, matcha, and honey-ginger. We tried matcha and honey-ginger. The honey-ginger tasted like vanilla ice cream with bits of ginger. The matcha was airy and slightly bitter, but still a bit too sweet for me. #DMVLife #DCRestaurantWeek #WashingtonDCRestaurantWeek #DCRecommendations #WashingtonDCSushi #DMVSushi #DMVRestaurantWeek #DMVRestaurantReview #DMVFoodShare #SushiLover #JapaneseCuisine #FoodReview #FineDining #DateNightIdeas #SummerEats #GoodValueMeal #FoodieGram #EatLocal #DCFoodScene #TasteOfJapan
