KYOJIN Sushi during DC Restaurant Week 🍣 | Almost Left Hungry! 😅
Tried KYOJIN’s Restaurant Week menu yesterday — 65 per person for 5 courses, plus a peach cocktail for 15 🍸. With tax and tip, it came out to about $90 per person. 💬 Overall Rating: 4/5 Fair value — you can tell the ingredients are fresh, but the experience wasn’t mind-blowing. If it weren’t Restaurant Week, I probably wouldn’t have made a special trip. Also, the portions for all five courses were pretty small — might not fill you up (good thing we had a snack beforehand! 😅) 🥟 Course 1: Dumplings or Clams The dumplings were pretty standard, despite the fancy description. The clams were tasty and well-seasoned, but felt like something I could make at home… 🐟 Course 2: Bluefin Tuna The fish was tender and flavorful — nice! 🍣 Course 3: “The Winner” (Surprise Hit!) This was my favorite of the night! A small bite with tuna, foie gras, eel, truffle oil, and sushi rice — so rich and satisfying. Award-winning for a reason… but seriously, just one tiny piece? 😭 🥗 Course 4: Poke Bowl or Sushi Bowl Pretty standard — you can find similar bowls elsewhere. Ingredients were fresh, but the seasoning didn’t stand out. 🍨 Course 5: Dessert Matcha ice cream was delicious! 🍵 The raspberry dessert was just okay. 📝 Final Thoughts: Nice ambiance, decent service — good for an occasional treat. Not the best value though. Portions are small and flavors are mild, better suited for those who prefer lighter Japanese cuisine. Would love your recommendations for other great Japanese spots in DC! 🙏 Already looking forward to next Restaurant Week! 📍 KYOJIN Sushi — street parking only 📍 Washington, DC #Foodie #RestaurantRecommendation #DCEats #DMVFood #DCRestaurantWeek #WashingtonDCSushi #JapaneseCuisine #Sashimi #RestaurantWeekReview #FoodReview #SushiLover #DC Dining #FreshFish #MatchaDessert #SmallPortions #FoodCritic #TrySomethingNew #EatLocal #DCFoodScene #JapaneseFoodie
