Kyoto's Autumn | The Surprisingly Secluded Kitamura Museum πΏ
This place can't get any more niche. πΏ I was the only visitor there. π In autumn, they hold a tea utensil exhibition along with related cultural displays. The exhibition is quite small (I really wish they sold similar tea utensils; the rustic tea bowls and cups are so beautiful). π΅ π The garden itself is only open for a short period, just a week each in spring and summer. But the glimpse of the "Four Gentlemen Garden" tea garden on the second floor of the museum is truly stunning. ππ’ It looks like just a floor-to-ceiling window with red leaves outside, but the glass is set in multiple folding screens, like a traditional folding screen. With the mirror effect of the glass, each fold reveals a different view. π No wonder the garden is only open for such a short time. It's not exactly "half-hidden behind a lute," but the unique creativity sparks curiosity. π ππ’ I heard that the museum's collection was gathered over nearly half a century by Kitamura Shinkichiro, who was both an industrialist and a tea connoisseur. It includes 33 important cultural properties and 9 important works of art. π #Japan #Kyoto #Exhibition #KitamuraMuseum π
