Kyoto Ninnaji Temple πΈπΊ
Ninnaji Temple is the head temple of the Shingon sect's Omuro school, established in 886 AD. πΏπ Emperor Uda and successive generations of Dharma princes took holy orders here, gradually turning it into a royal temple. Many imperial princes and princesses also took the tonsure at this temple, πΈπΊ hence it is also known as "Omuro Imperial Palace," and its cherry blossoms are called "Omuro Cherry Blossoms" in resonance. πΈπ― The temple was once destroyed and fell into decay until the Edo period when it was fully reconstructed by Tokugawa Ieyasu, πΏπ the then Shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate. He moved the Shishin-den and RyΕΕ-den from the Kyoto Imperial Palace to Ninnaji, πΈπΊ which are now the Golden Hall and the Omuro Hall. The five-story pagoda and the Nio Gate were also rebuilt, restoring Ninnaji to its former glory. ππ πΏπ #Kyoto π― #KyotoTravel πΏ #Japan π―π΅
