Ninna-ji Nio-mon (仁和寺二王門) is the grand entrance gate of Ninna-ji Temple, a historic Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. This imposing structure is an important example of Japanese temple gate architecture and serves as a guardian entrance, protecting the temple grounds from evil spirits. The gate is named after the Nio guardians, two fierce-looking deity statues housed within, which symbolize strength and protection in Buddhist tradition.

I didnt expect to visit this temple, but we were cycling arround and passed in front of this impressive gate, it felt like an invitation to get in. The admission fee is free. You can visit the special garden for 800Y. We skiped the special garden, since the park arround the whole site seemed big enough. The entrance worker was really nice to us and gave us the map in english.

Inside, what a great sight. First of all, its large. You decide where you want to go first and next. No bumping into people taking selfies and other groups of tourists. Thats a big plus for people like us that want a bit of quiet and privacy while visiting a temple. It was 15.00 when we got in.
