LA's New Top Hunan Spot | Stir-Fried Frog Legs So Spicy & Fragrant! š¶
Iāve been a longtime fan of this restaurantās original locationāespecially their jumping frog in pickled chili sauce, which is both aromatic and fiery! Now theyāve opened a new branch in San Gabriel, so I no longer have to trek to Rowland Heights. šø Stir-Fried Frog Legs with Perilla Leaves The frog is wok-tossed with yellow, green and red chilies, and perilla leavesāan absolute flavor bomb! The wok hei (breath of the wok) is intense, and the frog is tender (so fresh it tastes like it was just prepared). Iāve tried frog all over LA, and this is hands-down the most authentic version Iāve had! š„© Wrinkled Pepper Beef Stir-Fry These unique wrinkled peppers are dried, fried, and then stir-fried with high-quality beef. The result is fragrant, slightly smoky, and incredibly addictiveāperfect over rice! š Tea Oil & Ginger Chicken A classic Hunan dish I always order at their original location. The ginger is fragrant, and the chicken is tender, cooked with multiple types of chilies and garlic sprouts. Consistently delicious! š„¬ Pot-Style Greens with Minced Pork A traditional preparation where greens are topped with savory minced pork and red chili. A bit oily, but amazing mixed with rice. Second Visit & Takeout Favorites: Beer-Braised Duck: Tastes just like the version I had in Changsha! Pressure-cooked until fall-off-the-bone tender, rich and spicyāideal for strong flavors. Spicy Kiss (Qin Zui): Stir-fried cured pork face with celeryāintensely flavorful and great with rice. š Grand Opening Special: 40% off until 6/20 (Note: Theyāll be temporarily closed from 6/16 for updates.) Iāll be back again and again for that stir-fried frogāitās that good! š©š» By day, Iām a data scientist in tech; by night, a foodie sharing hidden gems across LA and the Bay.
