LA / Ktown | A Mixed Bag of Korean Classics at Chunju Han-Il Kwan 🍲⚡
📍 Chunju Han-Il Kwan 3450 W 6th St, Los Angeles, CA 90020 Tucked in the heart of Koreatown, this traditional spot gives off a warm, family-run vibe—think cozy booths, gentle lighting, and the comforting hum of Korean conversation around you. 🏮✨ We came with big appetites and high hopes for a genuine taste of home-style Korean cooking. Let’s start with the highlight: the Oxtail Soup. 🍖🥣 This was hands down the winner of the night—rich, deeply flavorful broth simmered for hours, packed with tender fall-off-the-bone meat. Hearty, comforting, and perfect for a chilly evening. Definitely order this if you visit! 👍❤️ The Seafood Pancake was alright—crispy around the edges and loaded with scallions and squid, exactly what you’d expect from a classic Korean pancake. It’s solid, though not particularly memorable. 🦑🍳 Unfortunately, not every dish hit the mark. The Grilled Pork Belly 🐷🔥 had a noticeable gamey taste that put our table off—after one small piece each, we left the rest untouched. The Galbi (marinated beef short ribs) was also just okay—smothered in a very sweet, heavy sauce that overpowered the meat itself. 🥩🍯 Honestly, since moving to LA, I’m still on the hunt for a Korean restaurant that makes me truly eager to return. While Chunju Han-Il Kwan has its strengths (that soup though! 😍), it didn’t quite win me over completely. Have you found a must-revisit Korean spot in LA?
