LA | Is This Authentic Cantonese? 🥢✨
As a non-Cantonese food lover, I had to try "Old Canton Taste" in SG Valley—does it live up to its bold name? Here’s my take: 【Braised Beef Offal】 A rich, full bowl with tripe, intestine, and liver—all tender and clean. The daikon soaked in broth was a highlight! The house chili sauce is a must—spicy, savory, and even great on steamed buns. 🐮🌶️ 【Traditional Rice Rolls】 Thin, silky, and super smooth! Filled with seasoned pork and drizzled with a sweet-salty sauce—definitely above average. 🫔 【Pork & Century Egg Congee】 Mild and comforting with lots of meat and egg. Topped with sesame and scallion oil—perfect alongside stronger dishes. 🥣 【Claypot Butter Chicken】 Sizzling hot with fragrant basil and spices. Savory, not sweet, with big tender chunks (watch for small bones!). 🍗 【Salt Fish & Eggplant Pot】 Warm, savory, slightly spicy—a classic rice killer! The claypot keeps it hot till the last bite. 🍆 【Stir-Fried Pork Tripe with Peppers】 Huge portion with crisp, tender tripe and mildly spicy peppers—very satisfying! 🌶️ Busy on weekends with a welcoming owner (speaks fluent Cantonese!). Northerners like me loved it, but would love to hear from Cantonese friends—how authentic is it? 😄 Old Canton Taste 3219 San Gabriel Blvd, Rosemead, CA 91770 #LAEats #CantoneseFood #SGV #ChineseFood #ComfortFood #FoodReview
