La Bise: A Gorgeous French Restaurant Next to the White House
This French restaurant, La Bise, is just a few steps away from the White House. My friends and I visited twice in a month—it’s perfect for a romantic date night or just enjoying a beautiful meal. 🥰 The menu changes seasonally, focusing on seasonal French flavors. 🐙 Appetizer: Octopus Leg The octopus leg was delicious—crispy on the outside, tender and chewy on the inside, served with olives and a savory sauce. 🥐 Foie Gras Mousse / Chicken Liver Mousse We tried both on separate visits. The foie gras mousse was tasty, but the portion was tiny—just one small piece of buttered toast, not enough to share. We ended up using the bread basket to finish it. The chicken liver mousse, shaped like mini hand rolls, had a crispy shell and a smooth, rich filling. Perfect for one bite! 🦆 Orange Rohan Duck This is their signature dish, and it lives up to the hype. The medium-cooked duck was tender, paired with tangy orange foam and blood orange sauce—absolutely divine. 🐟 Alaskan Black Cod I loved this dish! The fish was firm, and the sauce had a subtle creaminess. The addition of salmon roe added a fun popping texture. Perfectly balanced in flavor. 🐓 Stuffed Chicken Another repeat order! The chicken was stuffed with mushrooms and served with delicious mashed potatoes and sauce. 🥩 Steak A solid, no-frills steak served with a salad (bitter greens) and peppercorn sauce. The fries on the side were a hit! 🍟 Side: Fries My friends declared these the best part of the meal! Freshly fried, golden, and crispy, with just the right amount of salt. Perfect for finishing off the meal. 🥲 Make sure to book ahead, especially during holidays. This place is ideal for a meal after touring DC’s landmarks with friends. 🥹 📍 La Bise #PrettyMeals #DCFrenchCuisine #DateNightSpot #FrenchCuisine #WhiteHouseVisit #WashingtonDC #DMVfood #DMVexploration
